Top 10 Things To Do in Minnesota this Fall

It’s that time of year again!

Fall is finally upon us, and we’re here to help you get ready for the season with our recommendations on things to do in Minnesota this Fall. Whether you’re looking for a great place to visit or want to learn more about our state, we’ve got you covered.

Hiking

Fall is the perfect time of year for hiking. The weather is cool, the leaves are changing, and there’s something about the crispness in the air that makes it seem like you’re going on an adventure. But where should you go?

Here are five great hikes in Minnesota this fall:

  • Hiking on Lake Superior! Take a guided tour of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Portage State Park.
  • Wander around the North Shore Landing: Hike along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
  • Walk through the Mesabi Iron Range: Visit historical mining sites and enjoy a beautiful walk through rich forests as you explore these valuable resources.
  • Stroll around Voyageurs National Park: Enjoy a hike through Voyageurs National Park that will take you across lush wetlands and past some of its most iconic natural features.
  • Trek up Mount Baldy: This easy hike climbs up Mount Baldy, offering amazing views of Minnesota’s largest lake, Superior

Go Apple Picking

Apple picking has never been more popular. There are so many great things to do in the fall. If you’re looking for the best, most unique experience, look no further than Minnesota’s apple orchards.

Imagine climbing up a ladder into a tree and picking your own apples off the branches. Now imagine that these apples are freshly picked, and not from a grocery store shelf. Now imagine that you can get this kind of experience at an apple orchard so close to home!

What makes Minnesota’s apple orchards special is how diverse and unique they are. The trees vary in size, shape and color— from tall spindly trees with bright yellow apples right down to smaller trees that have dark red fruits with a green tinge. Some apples have russet skin while others are smooth and shiny like a baby’s butt cheeks—many are just as beautiful as they are delicious!

Plus there’s so much more than just eating them! You can make all sorts of tasty treats from these apples: pies, cakes and muffins; jams; jellies; ice

Go for a Drive and Look at Fall Foliage

From October through November, the leaves turn from green to gold and orange. Fall season can be really beautiful, especially if you’re in a warmer region like the Pacific Northwest or California. But if you live in Minnesota, don’t worry—we’ve got some pretty awesome fall foliage too!

To get a good look at what’s going on out there this time of year, just head out on your next drive with your camera (or better yet, pack a bag full of snacks!) and take some time to enjoy the changing colors while they’re still bright and vibrant.

Visit a State park

Fall is a great time to travel, and there are so many fun things to do in Minnesota. One of the best things you can do is visit a state park!

I recommend visiting one of these parks this fall. I’ve been to all of them, and they’re all amazing. They’re also free—you don’t have to pay anything!

Here are my top picks:

  • Split Rock Lighthouse State Park: This park has beautiful nature trails, as well as wildlife habitats for birds and animals. It’s also right on Lake Superior, so if you’re lucky enough to be there during the season when it’s nice out (and maybe even some rain), you’ll see some amazing views of the lake.

  • Mounds State Park: This park has many different hiking trails, including ones that take you up into old-growth forests (which are rare in Minnesota). It also has gorgeous scenery along the bluffs on Lake Superior near Grand Portage lighthouse.
  • Echo Lake State Park: This park has plenty of activities for kids like swimming and playing games like volleyball or soccer while they wait for their parents at the beach volleyball court or playgrounds where parents can relax with books or other hobbies while

Eat at a local restaurant that has outside seating

Fall is the perfect time for a getaway. And what better way to kick off your weekend than with a trip to one of our favorite places: the local restaurant with outside seating?

So if you’re looking for ways to relax this fall, consider checking out these restaurants with outdoor seating and spending some time enjoying all that nature has to offer.

  • The Launch Bar & Grill —You can’t beat the atmosphere of this restaurant. It’s a casual restaurant with indoor seating, but they have a great outdoor area as well that is perfect for hanging out and enjoying delicious local food.
  • W.A. FROST & COMPANY—This place is a favorite among locals—you’ll feel right at home! It is an award winning restaurant with the best outdoor dining patio. If you want to go somewhere where everyone knows your name, this is it.

Go to a Pumpkin Patch and Find the Perfect Pumpkin

The fall season is the best time to go pumpkin picking. There are so many beautiful and unique pumpkins to choose from that it’s hard not to find the right one for you.

If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with your family this fall, consider visiting one of the many pumpkin patches in Minnesota. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Pumpkin picking at BARTEN PUMPKINS which starts September 20th to October 31st, EVERY DAY, all daylight hours, 7 days a week
  • Or go to Waldoch Farm, opening this September 17th last through October 31st; 6 days a week – 10AM – 6PM
  • You can also visit the Pinehaven which opens this September 17, 2022! Regular Hours: Sat – Sun 10 am – 6 pm

Pumpkins are a fun, seasonal treat that you can enjoy year-round. And this time of year in Minnesota (and other parts of the country), there are plenty of pumpkin patches available where you can pick out the perfect pumpkin to use as a centerpiece this fall.

Go Camping

Camping is one of the best ways to experience nature, and it’s even better when you’re camping with friends or family. But sometimes it can be hard to find a campsite that fits your needs.

Visiting a brewery and try seasonal flavors

There are lots of reasons to visit a brewery this fall—the first is that you’ll get to taste some seasonal flavors. What’s better than drinking a beer with pumpkin pie spices in it? Nothing.

The second reason you should visit a brewery this fall is because they have events like food trucks and live music. It’s the perfect way to spend your Sunday afternoon!

Visit the Minnesota Zoo

Located in Apple Valley, Minnesota, the Minnesota Zoo is home to over 1,000 animals from all over the world. With so many animals to see and learn about, there’s something for everyone at the zoo.

The Minnesota Zoo is open year round so if you want to go check it out now or wait until next year then you can do that too! They have lots of events going on during the season so if you have kids then they might enjoy these events more than going to see an animal at the zoo because they get to meet other kids their age while they are learning about animals too!

Attend A Harvest Festival This Fall In Minnesota

If you’re looking for a great time, you should make sure to attend a harvest festival this fall in Minnesota. Here are some of the best festivals in the state:

These festivals celebrate the bounty and beauty of our state’s farmlands and harvest season, giving participants an opportunity to learn about agriculture and visit with local farmers. They also provide a great opportunity for attendees to have an adventure while getting out in nature—and there’s nothing better than that!

Here's Kenny. Welcome to my travel and lifestyle blog. I developed this blog to depict the lifestyle of a typical middle-class parent. The media has a habit of exaggerating what constitutes "average." I'd want to express how things appeal to me as a person who lives in a suburb of a big city in America. I'm a software engineer by trade, but I'd want to concentrate on things that I believe are budget-friendly and that an "ordinary American" would like. I wanted a site where I could talk about the activities I do.
